Happy Birthday Kim !!!
Today was Kim's 23rd birthday, so not the way she would have planned on spending her birthday; but we are so grateful that she was able to be here with us. Kim started her day off by going down for a CT Scan; they wanted to make sure that everything was working fine with her kidney, and the results came back that everything was good. All Kim could talk about when she got back was how much pain she was in. This was due to the fact that she was put in a transporting bed to go down stairs and have her CT Scan, and than when she got back up placed back into her normal bed. A lot of moving around for someone who has as many broken bones as she does.
We soon were able to distract her mind by mentioning that we had some birthday gifts for her to open, who could turn that down! Kim was also able to read all her cards that she had received through out her duration at the hospital so far as well. She was so filled with joy to know about the amount of people who cared for her out there. Today was also a very emotional day for Kim; for she was able to get on to the computer for the first time. We showed Kim her blog that was set up for her, and read of all the types of things that she has been through since her duration in the hospital, as well as read all the comments that people have posted for her. As well she was able to go onto her facebook account and see what all her family and friends have been writing to her. Let's just say that Kim was so very touched by what she had read from all.
Kim was also able to have some visitors for a good part of the day as well; in which I know she so enjoyed. It was nice to see a smile on her face when someone new walked through the door to see her. Kim was moved out of the "step down" unit as well. She is still located on the 6th floor, only now she is in a room with only 1 other lady. She is to the point where she does not need a nurse looking over her all the time, if she needs something she can call. When we left Kim was quiet tired; so had no problem seeing us go, she did great for not having a nap all day.
In all this we see how our Heavenly Father has brought us so far. Each day again, we are blessed with many wonderful things, and each day again we are reminded of His almighty, awesome power. He is a gracious God who gives to those in need
Happy 23rd Birthday Kim! I could say that you could celebrate properly at a later date, but in truth, to hear that you are doing so well, was able to have visitors, open presents and smile with family and friends....well that sounds like a pretty wonderful birthday to me! We are so thrilled to hear the progress of your recovery! Love and best wishes, Diane, Sean, Philip, Cameron and Sarah
