Today, Kim was pretty happy to show us her leg. She got her staples out! Now it's just itchy! She also stood on it today; not for long, but she's way ahead of schedule. She first got told she wouldn't be able to put pressure on it til January 12th, and now it's still December. That's almost 2 weeks ahead. Great news! Little sore, but more and more every day. Her physio therapist is very pleased with her progression.
Eating habits are getting better and better too. Under pressure, from the family, but whatever works!! Hence, she got her promised french fries tonight in the cafeteria.
Other than that, there is no other news.
Continue to keep Kim in your thoughts and prayers. Happy New Year from Kim.
Vanessa, thanks so much for your post. It brought tears to her eyes. Kim would really like to meet sometime.

Day 18
Today, was quite a busy day for Kim. First, she went for an ultrasound on her legs. We found out she has blood clots in her right leg (the good one). She also had 2 ECG's done, because her heart rate was quite high for the last couple days. They will continue to monitor that. Then, this afternoon, they took her downstairs for a CT Scan, on her chest to check if there were blood clots near her heart or lungs. But once she was down there, the doctor decided against the CT Scan, because she already had 5 of them, and radiation is not good for a young lady. Since, she has clots in her leg, they have to put her on Warfarin (a blood thinner), and since she is already on that, it will help for the clots in her chest to if any, so no need for the Ct Scan.
Physio was held off today, because she went through a fair bit of movement today, which really tuckered her out and she needed her rest.
Kim was in her glory again, because yesterday Alicia made her spaghetti, and today mom made her macaroni salad, so no hospital food!!! Yuck, she says! Tomorrow, she got promised french fries if she obeys the rules!
She will probably be here till the beginning of next week at least, because she does have another CT Scan on her chest scheduled for Monday.
Please continue to remember Kim and pray for her healing!

Day 17
For I will restore health unto you, and I will heal you of your wounds. Jeremiah 30:17
Once again, as promised to Kim, she had to do physio. The doctor was really pleased with how her foot is coming along (thanks to wearing that wonderful boot that she grunts at every time she has to wear it!) She was up in her wheelchair today for about 1 1/2 hours, touring through the hospital, and eating popsicles. She quite enjoyed the change of scenery! Little painful after that, and quite content about going back to her bed.
The results also came back from her CT Scan that she had done yesterday. It showed she had a tear in her artery in her neck, but her blood clot there stopped it from internal bleeding. It is dissolving on its own now.
She also went for testing to see how badly the accident affected her brain. She had 30 different tasks to perform, from answering questions to drawing and identifying things, and she did well on it. (26/30)
Today, the coordinator came in to tell us again that there still was no bed available in Grimsby, so hopefully tomorrow.

Day 16
Back to the blog!
Yesterday, was just a day of rest for Kim; no new changes. Mel, her cousin came and sat with her for a few hours in the afternoon, while we went to the Post family get-together for Christmas. Thanks so much, Mel! It was nice to get out for a bit. Kim's boss and one of her co-workers came in to visit her, and it became quite an emotional afternoon, from what I hear. She came in bearing a big box of cards and gifts from her little kiddies and co-workers from her daycare. So many cute cards were made for her by the different classes and their teachers.
Today, when we arrived she had 4 more of her co-workers visit her. She enjoyed their company too, till the therapists came for some torture! They put her in a wheelchair, which was verrry painful for her. But she got to go for a visit to the sun room....no sooner was she there, though, that a nurse came to her and told her a porter was there to take her for another CT Scan, for her clots in her neck (no results as of yet). This really tired her out so she had a quiet afternoon and slept for a good part of it. She really doesn't look forward to therapy tomorrow!
Her healing process is coming along well, with no major hurldles! So much to be thankful for. She is eating next to nothing as of yet, but hopefully that will come soon too. Please continue to pray for patience, strength, and healing for Kim.
No news yet about being transferred to Grimsby! We will keep you updated on that!

Day 14
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Yesterday morning, when we came in to see Kim for the day, she told us she got her staples (47 of them) out of her stomach. But we couldn't believe her, until she showed us! It's amazing what these drugs she's on, does to her. She has some amazing and quite comical stories (through her dreams) to tell us every morning, but they all relate somehow to her injuries or her daily happenings in the hospital. So many a times, we do have question her or the nurses.
As for her healing, it's amazing how far she has come since her accident. Her insides and organs seem to all be healed by now. She just can't move a lot yet, because of her fractures to her ribs, pelvic and vertebraes, but some are surprised she can move as she does. She can't get out of bed, because she cannot put any weight on her leg till about the 12th of January, we are told, so it's flat on her back till then!
Her appetite is finally coming back a bit, but she hates hospital food, so I still can't get away with cooking for her! Even for as little as she eats right now, but I don't want to refuse her at this time. Today, her diet consisted of about 5 bites of ham and 4 mouthfuls of applesauce, but that's more than she's eaten in the last 2 weeks!
Please continue to pray for Kim for strength, patience and healing.
Tamara, just thought I'd let you know, Kim was very touched by your comment....it brought tears to her eyes! she thought that was so sweet of Colten!

Day12
No news is good news! Today, when we got there, Kim showed a little discomfort, but that soon changed when her friend Meghan showed up! That put a smile on her face pretty quick! For the rest, there is not much to tell you. As of now, she is still in the General.
Please continue to remember Kim and us in your prayers.
Have a blessed Christmas!

Day 11
"In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9
Today, was not a great day for Kim. It seems she has a good day, where she can be awake most of the day, when we are there, but the next day she doesn't. She had a lot of discomfort today, in her abdomen, enough that she couldn't even do her physio. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.
Today, we were informed, that she could be transferred to West Lincoln Hospital soon. It could be tomorrow, or it could be in a few days. It all depends on when a bed is available for her. That will make things a whole lot easier for us, knowing we can slip out from time to time too, as well as making it easier for Alicia with her little ones, even as good as they are! We will keep you informed, but for those who do plan on visiting in the next few days, it might be wise to find out first. When we first questioned why Kim is being moved to Grimsby already, it was just informed to us, that they normally transport patients, just for the convenience to the family. She still needs the same medical help, but they feel as long as a patient is not under the care with all the internal injuries any longer, her hospital can look after her the same way. She will still be transported by OPT to the General to see her specialists if necessary, and when needed.
Once again, we ask you to keep us all in your prayers, and wish Kim a speedy recovery for her life to become "normal" again.
